Job Title: Emergency Mobile/Outreach-(8) Positions, 5 Qualified Nurse and
3 Auxiliary Nurse

1. BACKGROUND: SHACDO is implementing a Mobile Emergency Health and Nutrition
Response in Walaweyn District, Lower Shabelle, to provide essential
integrated health, immunization and nutrition services to vulnerable
communities affected by emergency conditions.
SHACDO is therefore seeking qualified and experienced health and
nutrition professionals to form a mobile response team comprising five
Qualified Nurses and three Auxiliary Nurses.
2. Positions 1. Qualified Nurse –5 positions, (Under five, Over Five, ANC/PNC,
OTP, EPI Vaccination)
2. Auxiliary Nurse – 3 positions, (IYCF, Drug Dispenser, Screener)
3. Overall Objective To provide accessible, quality and integrated emergency health,
immunization and nutrition services to vulnerable communities through
mobile outreach activities in Walaweyn District.
4. Key Responsibilities Qualified Nurses.
• Provide quality outpatient assessment, diagnosis and treatment
according to approved protocols.
• Conduct triage and identify cases requiring urgent referrals.
• Provide routine and outreach immunization services according to
the national EPI schedule.
• Ensure proper vaccine handling, cold-chain management and safe
injection practices.
• Maintain accurate OPD, EPI, vaccination and referral records.

• Support identification and follow-up of children who have missed
vaccinations.
• Support integrated nutrition screening and referral of malnutrition
cases.
• Provide health education and participate in community mobilization
activities.
• Ensure appropriate use and reporting of medicines, vaccines and
medical supplies.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
• Participate in mobile outreach planning, implementation and
reporting.
Auxiliary Nurses Responsibilities.
• Conduct nutrition screening of children 6–59 months using MUAC
and bilateral pitting oedema assessment.
• Support screening of pregnant and lactating women according to
programme guidelines.
• Identify and refer children with suspected acute malnutrition.
• Support active case finding and follow-up of nutrition cases.
• Provide individual and group IYCF counselling to mothers and
caregivers.
• Promote exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary
feeding.
• Provide basic breastfeeding support and identify cases requiring
referral.
• Conduct caregiver education on infant and young child feeding,
hygiene and nutrition.
• Support community mobilization and nutrition awareness activities.
• Maintain accurate screening, referral and IYCF records.
• Coordinate with the Qualified Nurses to ensure integrated service
delivery.
• Support other emergency nutrition activities as assigned.

Skills and qualifications

Qualified Nurses.
• Recognized Degree in Nursing or Public health.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in OPD, Mobile health services and/or EPI vaccination.
• Experience in humanitarian or emergency programmes is an
advantage.
Auxiliary Nurses
• Certificate or Diploma Nursing qualification or relevant health
qualification.
• Relevant experience in nutrition screening and/or IYCF counselling.

• Practical knowledge of MUAC and bilateral pitting oedema
assessment.
• Training or experience in IYCF counselling is desirable.
• Humanitarian or emergency nutrition experience is an advantage.
6. Common
Competencies
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in Somali and working knowledge of English.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary mobile team.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in emergency settings.
• Willingness to travel to rural and hard-to-reach communities.
• Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, PSEA and
professional conduct.
