Description

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 edition of the UNESCO Young Professionals Forum on World Heritage. Set to be held from July 1 to July 8, 2025, at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, France, this global youth gathering is part of the broader activities under the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee. Hosted with the support of the Republic of Bulgaria and organized through the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme, the 2025 forum will center around the theme: World Heritage in an Interconnected World: Embracing Digital Innovation and Technological Solutions.

Emerging professionals from across the globe are encouraged to apply through the provided online application platform. This immersive forum will empower young heritage enthusiasts with critical knowledge and skills to safeguard, conserve, and elevate both cultural and natural World Heritage sites. Participants will take part in intensive discussions, hands-on workshops, and collaborative sessions focused on the evolving landscape of heritage conservation in today’s digitally connected era.

The World Heritage Young Professionals Forum represents a key initiative under UNESCO’s education strategy to promote cultural dialogue and mutual understanding. It brings together dynamic young leaders and field experts from diverse regions, fostering the exchange of ideas and best practices in heritage preservation. Through interactive sessions and site excursions to designated World Heritage locations, participants will gain unique insights into national approaches to heritage protection, while also having the rare opportunity to engage with decision-makers from the World Heritage Committee and its Advisory Bodies. They will deepen their understanding of the 1972 World Heritage Convention and explore how its implementation continues to adapt to contemporary global challenges.

Applicants should be between 23 and 32 years old, born between June 30, 1993, and June 30, 2002. Ideal candidates will have a background or experience in areas such as archaeology, architecture, cultural heritage studies, historic preservation, art history, restoration, or urban planning. They must be actively involved in efforts related to World Heritage and should demonstrate experience or interest in integrating digital tools and technology in heritage work. Candidates must show a strong commitment to applying the forum’s insights within their local contexts and must be available to participate for the entire duration of the program. Fluency in either English or French is required, as the forum will be held in both languages.

All expenses related to participation—including international airfare (economy class), accommodation in Paris, meals, local transport, and visa fees—will be fully covered by the organizers. Selected applicants are expected to arrive on June 30, 2025, and depart on July 8, 2025. In addition, travel and visa support will be provided to ensure smooth participation for all selected delegates.
